Duds of 2008: Bollywood Flop Movies of 2008

Indian film industry is one of the largest movie churners on the Globe, today. However, out of the total movies made by the Indian film fraternity, only few succeed in hitting the bull's eye, the ones who did so-so business are tagged as 'average grosser' and the remaining ones are labeled as 'dud'. It might look strange but making film is an extremely difficult job that supersedes every other task on this Earth. To get the best out of dozens of men and women and portraying it in a feasible yet like-able form is quite an uphill task and the chances of delivering a hit are very minimal. Thus, it can be easily interpreted that film-making is not an easy job on the Earth.

'Drona', 'Kidnap', 'Love Story 2050' take the cake when it comes down to sharing the title of 'flop of the year'. 'Tashan' by 'Vijay Krishnan Acharya' gave a tough fight to the aforementioned films, but lagged out due to its decent business in suburbs. Many people though considered Apoorva Lakhia's 'Mission Istanbul' a strong competitor but it lost out on the account of budget. Other films namely 'Chamku', ' Money hai toh honey hai', Krazzy 4 too fared quite badly at the box office. Salman, Priyanka starrer 'God Tussi Great Ho' too suffered the same fate.

What was more surprising that even the skimpy outfits donned by the leading ladies of the above mentioned films failed to draw the audience to the cinema halls. Kareena Kapoor can be credited for being the pioneer of this trend. The Kapoor clan blood took everybody by surprise when she did a 'Bo Derek' in 'Tashan'. However, despite a heavily loaded star cast that boasted of established names like Anil Kapoor', Akshay Kumar' and 'Saif Ali Khan', fell flat at the box office, disappointing the 'YashRaj Banner'. But the woes for 'YashRaj Banner' continued as even Amisha Patel's ' Lazy Lamhe' in the lemon yellow bikini again failed to do any world of goods to the Kunal Kohli's high budgeted ' Thoda Pyaar Thoda Magic'. Minisha Laamba the latest entrant to this domain, though sizzled the screen in the recent released 'Kidnap' but the film's fortune came crashing down.

The recent failures of big-budgeted multi-starry affairs at the box office have certainly amazed every film maker. This is the chief reason why these days directors and film makers are looking for scripts with substance and are not relying upon the only show-offs, since, audience has now got tired of it and is looking for refreshing ideas and some out of world film experience.
