Astro Boy: Enchanting Tale Of A True Hero

The brain-child of late Japanese manga artist, animator and producer Osamu Tezuka, Astro Boy is the beloved classic and science fiction series set in a futuristic world wherein androids co-exist with humans. Based on this original series, director David Bowers has made a digitally animated 3-D film Astro Boy which will come to life on the silver screen in breathtaking CGI animation on October 23rd 2009.

An enchanting tale of a true hero, Astro Boy is an upcoming Hollywood movie is full of action, adventure, humor and emotions. Set in the futuristic Metro City, it is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist named Tenma. Powered by positive blue energy, Astro Boy is endowed with super strength, x-ray vision, unbelievable speed and the ability to fly.

A journey in search of acceptance, Astro Boy mingles with many other colorful characters along the way. Through his adventures, he learns the joys and emotions of being human, and gains the strength to clasp his destiny. Ultimately learning his friends and family are in danger, Astro Boy showcases his awesome super powers and returns to Metro City in an effort to save everything he cares about and in due course to understand what it means to be a hero. On the whole, Astro Boy is a parable about the importance of harmony among different kinds of people, of accepting others despite their differences.
The voice role of Astro Boy is done by Freddie Highmore, the 17 year old youth has also lent his voice in movies like “The Golden Compass” and “A Fox Tale”.

Other lead character is the female orphan, Cora, who is robot Astro Boy's biggest ally among the human race. Her voice is lent by Kristen Bell, the American actress who has also done the voice in “Gossip Girls”. The story is narrated by Charlize Theron.

The score to Astro Boy is composed by John Ottman, who recorded his score with a 95-piece orchestra and choir at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. A soundtrack album will be released on October 20, 2009 by Varese Sarabande Records. Astro Boy will come out in two languages-English and Japanese.

Peeping into the past, we find that the we all love Sherk, Ice Age etc but somehow animated movies seem to fare less well in India as elsewhere, Even the huge Hollywood hits don't do as much business as the non-animation film. Maybe because ewe consider animation to be kids stuff. Still Astro Boy is a much awaited science fiction feature film expected to be high on entertainment quotient
