The Runaways

The musical biographical drama movie, 'The Runaways' is a Upcoming Hollywood Movie to be released in 2010, based on the 1970s all girl rock band having the same name. The film is directed by Floria Sigismondi, who is also the writer of the movie, where as Joan Jett is one of the executive producers of the movie. The movie star crew include: Kristen Stewart as Joan Jett, Dakota Fanning as Cherrie Currie, Stella Maeve as Sandy West, Scout Taylor-Compton as Lita Ford, and Michael Shannon as Kim Fowley. Alia Shawkat portrays the role of the band's bassist, named Robin.

This Hollywood New Release features the band 'THE RUNAWAYS' formed during 1975–1977, which was completely girls band involving teenage girls living near Hollywood, CA. The band was greatly influenced by their manager Kim Fowley. All the girls were 16 or younger when the band got their first album recorded. Finally, the band gets success because of their own music skills which made it the first ever complete girl rock band to hit the world with great music compositions.

The film shows two friends, Jett and Currie. Both of them rise from rebellious L.A. street kids to become rock stars of the group which has become a legend in the present date. They fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and because of immense talents, the band gained popularity very soon. Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten.

'The Runaways' is also supposed to be based on lead-singer Cherie Currie's book 'Neon Angel' – which reflects her experiences as a rock star. The movie warns teens and others about harmful effects of drug addiction. World premiere of the movie was held at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival on January 24. On 19th March, limited copies of the movie will be released in U.S.A. The movie communicates strongly that girls are better than boys and is a source of inspiration for other girls who want to make breakthrough in any section of life.
